Hello, families and stakeholders! I am so thrilled to be part of the ODCS team! I was born and raised on a ranch on the outskirts of Bisbee, Arizona and graduated from Bisbee High School in 1998. In 2004, I obtained my BA in Secondary Education and was hired at my alma mater as a Language Arts Teacher for sophomores and seniors. In 2010, I earned my MA in Administration and Supervision, and was hired on as Principal that same year at my former middle school, Lowell Junior High School. I served in that leadership role for 5 years before transitioning here to Open Doors Community School. During my time at Lowell School, I worked with a creative and enthusiastic team of teachers and staff to lead our school to the highest ranking in the district, with tremendous improvement in mathematics, record attendance rates, and record low behavioral referrals. I am currently a third year doctoral students, researching the impacts of the new Arizona State evaluation system model on the recruiting and retaining efforts of rural schools. My passion is most definitely with rural school settings and working with rural school demographics. I am a vehement believer in the power of education as a means to reshape the landscape of opportunities for students, regardless of their background or circumstance.
On a personal note I have been happily married to my husband for 11 years, who is also in education serving as a Dean of Students for TUSD. We have three beautiful children: Dante, Isabelle and our newest addition Sophia. My favorite thing to do is travel with my family and just spend as much time with them as possible!
I am honored to lead ODCS team and look forward to the many adventures to come here!
