Hello! My name is Lindsey Aragon and I am the 1st grade teacher here at Open Doors Community School. I grew up in the small town of Sierra Vista, AZ, with my parents and my younger brother. I am the oldest sibling, and my younger brother and I are very close. I am also very close with my parents and many of my cousins. I believe family is one of the most important things in life and I cherish mine very much. I moved to Tucson in 2007 to attend the University of Arizona. I graduated from the U of A (GO Wildcats!) in 2010 with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in SEI Instruction. I was hired right after graduation in the Sunnyside district and taught there for 3 years; 3rd grade and 1st grade while there. My heart is absolutely with 1st grade! The students grow and learn so much in 1st grade especially in reading. I truly enjoying getting the opportunity to watch them grow into strong independent readers and writers over the year they spend with me. I married my wonderful husband in the Fall of 2014. We are a beautiful blended family with my 2 stepchildren, Mya and Ryan, and our daughter, Melanie who was born in the Summer of 2016. Our family also has 2 small dogs and we enjoy spending time outdoors camping, fishing, off-roading and traveling.
I truly believe I was born to be a teacher and I can’t picture myself doing anything else! I am so excited to continue my professional career here at Open Doors Community School!
